The gigantic Akrid, epic environments, and heavily-armoured vital suits of Lost Planet 2 come to PCs beginning October 15!

Featuring support for DirectX® 11 and DirectX 9, Lost Planet 2 delivers its Akrid-infested world in even greater detail. Through DirectX® 11 features, smoke will have lifelike volume and depth, water surfaces react realistically to player interaction and bullets, and level bosses are rendered with more detail than ever before. Lost Planet 2 will also feature support for NVIDIA® 3D Vision™ and 3D Vision™ Surround technologies (wireless 3D Vision glasses sold separately) bringing the on-screen action to a whole new dimension.

Beginning today, Capcom and NVIDIA have released a preview of Lost Planet 2. Containing both a gameplay test and Direct® X 11 benchmark mode, this application allows gamers to test their PCs to ensure they get the optimum Lost Planet 2 experience.

The Lost Planet 2 preview includes:

Test A

The primary purpose of Test A is to give an indication of typical game play performance of the PC running Lost Planet 2. (i.e. if you can run Mode A smoothly, the game will be playable at a similar condition). In this test, the character’s motion is randomized to give a slightly different outcome each time.

Test B

The primary purpose of Test B is to push the PC to its limits and to evaluate the maximum performance of the PC. It utilizes many functions of Direct X11 resulting in a very performance-orientated, very demanding benchmark mode.

To download the Lost Planet 2 preview, please visit (http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_lostplanet2_downloads.html)

Whether you choose to put a Snow Pirates head on a Jungle Pirates body with Bug Rancher Arms and a Mercenaries Backpack, or any vast number of combinations, the options are endless! In the past we have mainly focused on the males in Lost Planet 2 but today we show you how to customize your lady Pirates of Lost Planet 2 with an all new trailer showcasing these ferocious females in action.

Additionally, a Lost Planet 2 multiplayer demo was released this week via Xbox Live and PSN.
Pre-Order Incentives

Fans who pre-order Lost Planet 2 at GameStop locations in North America will be able to download two new maps where they can engage in battle during the 16-player multiplayer versus modes of Lost Planet 2. Originally announced as a GameStop exclusive, the playable skin of Resident Evil 5’s Albert Wesker and the powerful Magnum Revolver weapon received such massive demand, Capcom decided to give them to everyone who purchased the game.

The new map packs include:

Helix
The underwater NEVEC mining facility houses several layers and twisted corridors. Swim between the layers, or dive to the bottom to change your point of attack. Aqua Catapults can launch you to the upper levels in a hurry, and you must learn every corner and get the upper hand on your enemies.

Back to the Island
The shady atoll of Island 902 is broken into wide open spaces and compact interiors. Choose your battlefield from the beaches to the battered carrier, or explore a new dimension in the underwater battle. Control the bridge to dominate the map, but beware attacks from all sides.

To battle on these two new map packs, you can pre-order now at: (http:// www.gamestop.com/)

Splitscreen
After months of speculation, the development team that brought localized splitscreen gameplay to Resident Evil 5 has confirmed that they will be doing it again. With the introduction of two-player splitscreen gameplay to Lost Planet 2, gamers can join the battle for control of the precious thermal energy on E.D.N III alongside a friend from the same living room.

Also be sure to check out our official blog at http:// www.capcom-unity.com.

Lost Planet 2 will be released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on May 18, 2010.
